Precise counting of the FSC paper processed in the print workshop, with automated sheet-counter readings and real-time stock levels.

Since 1957 Grafiche Tassotti has made creative print products in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza), carrying on the legacy of the historic Remondini printworks. Its catalogue of art prints, greeting cards, diaries and books holds the cultural tradition of the area, and the high-quality craftsmanship of the company is mirrored in a considered use of paper.
Hence the question: how do you calculate raw material consumption in order to make production processes more efficient? The company holds responsible forest management certification (FSC) and needed a scientific, precise and technical way to measure the paper used in its creations, demonstrating that it comes from a responsible forest and supply chain through a chain-of-custody system.
With IDA, Grafiche Tassotti has a precise count of the paper processed in the print workshop, with a detailed report of the sheets used in production that justifies their use and certifies responsible management of environmental resources.
Thanks to automated sheet-counter readings, the number of sheets used for certain print runs is updated in real time: the company has an efficient view of stock levels and of the paperwork required to restock. The application also opens the way to further services, such as energy meters on the most energy-intensive machines, to monitor other production parameters such as CO₂eq emissions, carbon footprint and water footprint across Scope 2 and Scope 3.
With IDA's data, Grafiche Tassotti can assess which options to pursue in adopting more responsible solutions across the production processes that involve its various machines. Making production more efficient supports sustainability and underpins the company's move towards the 5.0 transition.
Should the company want to monitor parameters beyond paper, the path is already open: further sensors could measure the ink used in its creations. The goal stays the same, fighting waste, by measuring the exact consumption of another raw material in the production cycle.
